Hook size: 10-14.
Rust colored marabou through tail and body.
Rust colored Chenille, medium to extra small depending on hook size.
Brown saddle hackle trimmed short for ribbing.
Brown head on unweighted; black on weighted
This has been one of my most successful flies for the winter months when nothing else seems to work. Here in Boise, my winter plans have all but been put on hold from the subzero temperatures that have been running rampant. The days are becoming short and mixed with constantly changing temperatures making the fishing hard. Look for peak hatches, usually around 12:00 PM to 3:00 PM, to come off at this point. Remember when things are coming off on top, nymphing can be a great way to land some and be productive. If you are in some deep water try to mix things up with a non-tapered leader.
